W is for Wolf on Wall Street

i recently heard about The Wolf on Wall Street, and as you all know the whole world is buzzing about it.
i watched it last week, and damn is it good!
it's almost unbelievable to think that it is based on a true story.
really amazing, not to mention the fashion!
lately i have been enjoying men's fashion a lot, and this movie is jam packed with well tailored suits and most amazing ensembles for men.
the first ever period piece completely based in the 1990s.
Sandy Powell the costume designer just went above and beyond with the costumes.
the suits are just so beautiful and the women's fashion which all looks so incredibly tailored and perfect.
the costumes were all designed to tell a story and to help create the characters.
outfits were carefully selected and each and everyone is perfect.
image is everything.
it's all about the suits.
you are immediately transported into their world of luxury and opulence.
the women are beautiful and their clothes compliment the men perfectly.
from a fashion perspective this movie is just sheer viewing pleasure.
an absolute feast for the eyes.
i thoroughly enjoyed this movie, however do bear in mind it's almost 3 hours long.
i watched it in two parts, just to make sure i didn't miss anything.
this movie is everything the reviews say and much more!
acting is superb, cinematography and costumes all work together to create a master piece.
i was so motivated after watching it, really do yourself a favour and watch it.
if not to enjoy the fashion than to experience an unbelievable story.

A is for Awards, SAG

it's awards season, and that is such a highlight on the fashion calendar.
because lets face it, how often do you get to put on beautiful evening gowns and have a spectacular night out?
hardly ever!
so why not live the fairy tale through your favourite stars?
here are some of my favourites, metallics  seems to be all the trend with lots of beading.
but i do also love simpler, elegant looks.
but the one who takes the cake is "Skylar" from Breaking Bad, the clutch, the dress, the whole ensemble it's just perfection!
who is your favourite?

H is for Her

The other day I read about Her on Miss Moss
She didn't say anything about the movie, just that it is a must watch.
Since she has amazing taste, I thought I need to watch this.
Yesterday I convinced the boyfriend to sit down and watch it with me.
Watching a movie with no expectation and not knowing what it is about, is quiet liberating.
The bottom line is that Her is an absolute must see!
Get your hands on it and watch it asap, but please don't go read about it, do yourself the favour of experiencing something new and different.
It will make you think, and it is just shot beautifully.
Really perfect cinematography.
Sunday nights are all about relaxing, fun, enjoying a good movie.
So what are you waiting for?

T is for Tapestry

As some of you my know I have developed a huge love and a bit of an addiction when it comes to tapestries. I'm always keeping my eyes open while I'm hunting for beauties and today I stumbled onto this gorgeous 1,9m long tapestry. It's pastel shades and gorgeous subject matter just spoke to me and I had to have it! I brought it home now I just need to find the right wall space for it. This is one big decor love I'm not letting go of anytime soon! My dream a huge wall if tapestries, I'm getting there!

F is for Friday

C is for Chocolate

I have decided to try something new on the blog, since i haven't blogged in a while and i have been looking for the right excuse to get back into it.
and what better excuse than chocolate?
well not exactly chocolate, i'll be trying out some recipes every now and again and if it turns out fabulous i'll share it with you.
because i'm sure some of you like cooking and baking just as much as i do!
for me it is a creative extension and a big bonus, who doesn't love delicious food?

this father's day i decided to spoil my family, my mom, my boyfriend and his parents.
since my dad passed away the only one i can spoil is my new dad.
and what better way than spending the day with them, cooking a delicious meal and just spending some quality time together?
best present ever in my opinion!

i found this recipe this week, and i must just say, it is freaking amazing, super easy and really delicious flavours.
a must try if you are a chocolate fiend like me.

• Chocolate Beer Bread / Cake •

Ingredients:

125g butter, cut into pieces
125ml milk stout (dark beer)
125g self raising flour
2,5ml bicarbonate of soda
40g cocoa powder
125g sugar
75ml milk
1 egg beaten
5ml vanilla essence
50g dark chocolate (cut into pieces)

Method:

Preheat the oven at 180 degrees
Line a small bread pan with baking paper
In a pot, heat the beer and butter over a low heat, until the butter has melted

In a mixing bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder and bicarbonate of soda together
Add the sugar, milk, egg, vanilla essence and butter mixture, mix well
Stir in the chocolate pieces

Pour the mixture in the bread pan, bake for 50 minutes, till the test pin comes out clean

I served it with custard, cut up strawberries and a few slices of orange, to balance the sweetness and to give it a nice fresh taste.

A great dessert or tea time treat, definitely worth a try.
The family loved it, and even had seconds!
Go ahead and go bake this on a cold rainy afternoon it's the perfect winter pass time.
