F is for Fashion Fix, Houndstooth

i love a beautiful houndstooth jacket.
it's just a vintage staple one has to have in your wardrobe, for winter or those colder days.

but what exactly is houndstooth?
first off it's a woven pattern.
which means the material is woven consisting of this pattern.
it is a large or smaller checked pattern with notched corners, looking almost like a dog's tooth.
it is a broken check, or an abstract four-pointed shape.
the big pattern is called houndstooth and the smaller pattern is called puppytooth.
usually this pattern is used for jackets, blazers and suits, but i have also seen some beautiful scarves, skirts, bow ties, etc.

this material was usually woven from wool, in Scotland.
but now a lot of different materials are used for this.
the traditional pattern is made up with alternating bands of four dark and four light threads.

now if you don't have a houndstooth pattern item, now or next winter is the time to get yours hands on this!
but don't worry i will have loads of these beauties in stock!

V is for Vintage Views, Dress Accordingly

whenever you go somewhere or when you receive an invitation, you must always dress accordingly.
i know this sounds plain and simple and a bit too straight forward, but this is something that very few people do and succeed at.
i always find that people under dress and don't wear appropriate attire.
so for the next while i will be focussing on what is appropriate for every occasion, well at least according to me.
watch the blog every wednesday to find out what to wear to what.
got any questions send them my way!

S is for Street Style, Black Lace

i'm a huge fan of lace, and very few things are as sexy as black lace.
i love the combination of this girl's outfit, the black skinny jeans with the top with a sheer lace back, and the cutest little boots!
really beautiful and well put together.
a perfect night out look.
sexy but understated.

F is for Fashion Fix, Aztec

everywhere we look in the fashion world it's aztec.
either you love it or you hate it.
this pattern isn't for everyone, but i quiet like it.
but then again, i'm a pattern fiend when it comes to clothes.

so then what exactly is aztec?

the aztec pattern comes from the american indian people who lived in mexico around the 16th century.
they used bold bright patterns, lots of geometric shapes, and tribal symbols.
all their patterns had different meanings, and was full of symbolism.
every colour had a different meaning.
every pattern was constructed in specific ways to tell stories.
their fabrics were all hand woven, which makes these patterns even more amazing.
just think about how many hours went into each piece of fabric, and how unique it was.

but today it's just fun, colourful and easy.
a beautiful addition to your wardrobe.
as with most things in the fashion world it is an old trend that has just become fashionable again.
so no need to spend a fortune on owning something aztec, as you will be able to find something that has been around for a while that nobody else has.
and once again vintage is king or queen in my case!

V is for Vintage Views, Mix and Match

some of the best advice i have been given is to mix and match.
why wear something straight out of the fashion spread or the out of the shop window?
you can be inspired by a look and create it in your own way on a budget.
everybody needs a few basic pieces in their wardrobe and sometimes it is better to pay a bit more for your basics / investment pieces.
you can always buy cheaper trendy pieces to keep your wardrobe up to date.
this will make your outfits unique, and it won't cost you a fortune.
but sometimes you are lucky enough to get a whole wardrobe made up of cheap pieces.
but don't be scared to mix and match prints colours and different looks.
the only way to be a trendsetter is to break the mould!
so go out there and mix and match, expensive with cheap and old with new.
this makes your look your own.

S is for Street Style, YMEWK - Ripped Jeans and BackPack

leather and denim, is just too amazing together.
who doesn't love ripped jeans, and everybody loves a backpack!
very nice outfit, plain and simple, but too cool.
i really like her shoes, and the striped shirt.
great look!

A is for Adventure, More Barcelona

expect a lot more posts on my big adventure!
i'm really enjoying going through all our pics, and looking back at the wonderful experience.
plus it's nice having an online place for all the pics, and it's easy to refer people here to look at them.

also another thing is, Julien and i shared a camera.
it's nice seeing someone else's view every now and again.
so not all the pics are his, i shot some nice ones too!

the flower pots that double up as lights, were right outside our hotel.
it was just so beautiful!

the pastries and chocolates are to die for!
i ate way too much on this holiday!

M is for Men's Wear

my latest and greatest obsession is Men's Wear.
finding awesome stuff for your boyfriend or just a boy who happens to be a friend is an absolute nightmare.
they all have their own very distinct taste, and then just finding something in the right size and at the right price rarely happens.
weird but true!
needless to say i spend hours shopping for my boyfriend, and i love it.
i have started getting him into the vintage things, but more about that in another post!
i may just have something interesting up my little sleeve
